Dr Portolan is a GP Partner at a highly successful and innovative NHS practice in West London.  

A refugee from Yugoslavia, the first time she set foot in England was for her Oxford Medical School interview over 25 years ago.  She was offered a scholarship on sight and took up a place to read Medicine at St Edmund's Hall, one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges at Oxford University.  Having passed her first BM part one, she stayed to read clinical medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. 

Gaining an integrated physiology degree in Neuroscience whilst still an undergraduate, she undertook specialist training in surgery at the Royal Berkshire and Battle Hospital NHS Trust where she gained experience in General and Emergency surgery covering disciplines as diverse as colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, urology, vascular, breast and trauma & orthopaedics.

Moving to the world renown Harefield Hospital, she joined a cardiothoracic surgical firm for six months, looking after some of the sickest surgical patients in the hospital.  This led her into an intensive care role at the Hammersmith Hospital.

Gaining membership of the Royal College of Surgeons at first attempt, she transitioned into General Practice to broaden her skill set and spend more time with her young family.  Whilst working as a GP she has specialised in skin surgery and is a GP with a specialist interest in dermatology and dermatological surgery.   She has held the position of Honorary Consultant Dermatological Surgeon at the Ealing Hospital and has practising rights at the prestigious King Edward VII hospital in Regent's Park where she sees her private patients.

Performing over 300 procedures a year for NHS patients, Dr Portolan is well respected within West London and receives many referrals from other practices to undertake skin surgery on their patients.

Her private work includes, but is not limited to, cosmetic and functional skin surgery, joint injections and, for a very select clientele, private GP services.
